Rolex Middle Sea Race 2019
The prestigious Rolex Middle Sea Race is a highly rated offshore yacht race. Co-founded by The Royal Malta Yacht Club and the Royal Ocean Racing Club in 1968. This year 2019 will be the 40th Edition and the 51st anniversaryfrom the start of this race. The Rolex Middle Sea Race is 608 nautical miles long and starts and finishes in the dramatic Grand Harbour of Malta.
The Rolex Middle Sea Race is a challenging 606 NM route sailed counter-clockwise around Sicily and surrounding islands. Departing from the Grand Harbour in Malta, heading north along the eastern coasts of Sicily. Passing through the Straits of Messina, the course leads north to the Aeolian Islands and the active volcano of Stromboli where the yachts turn west to the Egadi Islands then heading south for the island of Lampedusa. Finally heading northeast for the final and legendary leg back to the finish line in the Grand Harbour in Malta.
The 2019 Rolex Middle Sea Race campaign
Race Yacht Seawolf finished Second in ORC class and Third in IRC class 2014, 4th in 2018, this year we aim to win. We are limiting the places to 8 people for this years Rolex Middle Sea race, plus one skipper and professional first mate on each of our 2 yachts. Prior to the Middle Sea Race, the team will train for five solid days, starting from Monday 14th October, to master their skills and building a strong working team before the start of the Middle Sea Race on the 19th of October 2019. Four to six days of full on yacht racing follow, battling the international list of competitors and tricky winds.
